Our Team

Professional Staff

Henry E. Alvarez, CPA, Managing Principal

Henry has over 25 years of experience in public accounting serving a wide range of clients including steel processing and manufacturing businesses, construction contractors, tool and die shops, retailers, restaurants, not-for-profit organizations, school districts, personal service companies (legal, medical, engineering, architectural), real estate and agribusiness. He has expertise in auditing, accounting, taxation, business consulting and valuation, estate, retirement and financial planning. Henry is a graduate of Wayne State University and a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Michigan Association of CPAs and the Washtenaw County Estate Planning Council. He joined CBES in 1985 and was elected managing principal in 1999. Henry serves his community as a board member of Ann Arbor Commerce Bank, committee member of the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, director/officer of several private entities and has been a patient sponsor for the Healing the Children, University of Michigan.

John G. Sposito, CPA

John graduated from the University of Michigan in 1952, served in the U.S. Army and also worked for a large public accounting firm. He joined Curtis and Bailey, Certified Public Accountants in 1955 and received his CPA license in 1958. Curtis and Bailey became Curtis, Bailey, Exelby & Sposito, P.C. in 1960 and John assumed the role of partner in charge of the Ann Arbor office until 1974 when he was named managing partner of the growing firm. John served as director of several corporations and non-profit organizations over the years including Comerica Bank and Milliman Newspaper Group. John has extensive experience in the real estate industry and is also a certified third party administrator for union benefit funds. John served his community as board member of the City of Ann Arbor Pension Retirement Board, Treasurer of Construction Innovation Forum and director of the Student Building Program. He is also active in the University of Michigan Club of Ann Arbor, U of M Alumni Association, U of M President's Club, U of M Victors Club, Ann Arbor Lions Club and the International Foundation of Benefits Funds. John is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Michigan Association of CPAs, the Michigan Association of Professions and the Washtenaw County Estate Planning Council.
